EuroMate was created to solve a real problem faced by Sri Lankans living in Latvia.
Sri Lankans living in Latvia regularly send money home to Sri Lanka. The traditional route - using bank transfers or international services - comes with high fees and unfavorable exchange rates.
Many in our community turned to WhatsApp groups to find others willing to exchange EUR for LKR directly, peer to peer. This works, but it comes with serious risks: no way to verify who you're dealing with, no record of transactions, and no protection if something goes wrong.
EuroMate is not a bank. We do not hold, transfer, or process any money. Instead, we provide a trust and coordination layer that makes peer-to-peer EUR/LKR exchange safer and more structured.
Every seller on EuroMate is identity-verified using their Latvian Temporary Residence Permit. Verified sellers can post exchange requests, which buyers can browse and contact directly via WhatsApp. The actual money transfer happens directly between the two parties - we simply make it easier to find trustworthy partners.
Trust first
Every seller is identity verified before they can post requests. We never compromise on this.
Privacy by design
Identity documents are deleted immediately after verification. We collect only what we need.
Community owned
EuroMate is built and maintained by Sri Lankans in Latvia, for Sri Lankans in Latvia. No external investors, no profit motive.
EuroMate operates as an marketplace/ information platform, not a financial service provider. We do not provide payment services, hold client funds, or facilitate regulated financial transactions. Users are responsible for ensuring their own compliance with applicable laws when conducting peer-to-peer exchanges.
